On the surface, her remarks appear terrible (to me), at first. Yet, I have to agree to the extent that spending a few million to build infrastructure 10-15 years ago might have saved the many multiples spent on being over there now. Apparently, money's gonna get spent, one way or the other, sooner or later.

Although not quite in the same spirit that General Patton meant it, "a pint of preparation is worth a gallon of blood." She's using the long-winded and very poorly worded way of phrasing essentially the same thing.

I've read this story, and frankly I think its a tempest in a teapot. From what I've read of the Senator's remarks, she wasn't "praising" OBL. She was stating a fact. OBL and organizations like HAMAS and Hezbollah ingratiate themselves with social activism. They have been terribly successful doing so. Where's the beef?
