David Re...In my view, there is nothing more racist than USING race to further one's political objectives<

I would have to disagree with that in that it depends upon the context. That said, I would emphasize that the word "racist" has been used all too often, and like the word "feminist", doesn't instill warm fuzzy feelings in your heart when you hear it. So when you use that word, you had better make sure that you can back it up; and you don't have a lot of skeletons in your closet. The Dems have tons of skeletons, both from their past, and from the present in the overuse of that word. Jessie Jackson's use of that word to scam millions from corporations is an example. The excesses of affirmative action; Sharpton's exploitation of that word in the Twana Brawley incident; Ted's claiming all republicans are more racist than dems. are other examples how overuse of that word can cause repocussions.

Frankly, until Trents gaffe, most people were willing to drop that word from their dictionary, as it reminds us all of a sordid, recent and distant history both sides would just as soon forget. That is why I will predict that this incident will be soon forgotten by both sides, even if Trent stays on as a senator. We can only hope that Ted learns the same lesson here, however Ted's history as to knowing when to shut up is in my opinion, not the best.

Frankly, I think the Dems are making too big of a deal out of it and will get hurt also.

In my view, there is nothing more racist than USING race to further one's political objectives. And this is precisely what Clinton & Clinton are doing. These people are just as racist as Strom & Robert Byrd. The fact that the black community doesn't recognize what is happening is immaterial.

It must really hurt to see the many flaws of the right wing start to surface. Hold on to your hat, its going to get better as they fight over the spoils of their recent victories.

I can't wait!
