I think that is a wonderful idea. But is she materialistic? Some people don't see the value in gifts like that. I certainly do (and will tell you in Pm about a few I just received last week), but not all people do. If she is the kind of person who cherishes works from the heart, then she will love it. But some people can only see value in how much you spend on them. I don't think there is anything wrong with that- it's just another way of looking at the world. I bet you know what kind of person she is. And for people who are a bit of a combination, I'd write the story, and then put it in a very lovely gift basket with some other items. :-)
