Wow, it's been awhile since I've heard or read something that bashed my poor little state so thoroughly, especially for something from more than 30 years ago. And I thought WE were obcessed with the Bear. At least the Tide (and I don't like them, I'm an Auburn fan) has a decent coach coming after theirs left so rudely. Bear might not have been a model human in many ways, but he was a great coach. I don't understand bringing up the ugly history of the south as a reason Price should walk these sidelines. I've heard a few bad things about Washington state. But, hey, we Bamans are the nastiest vilians of all. :-)

Have a great time at the parade and Rose Bowl. I went to high school there and had some great times at the parade. It really is an event!

I think it's just that people gush without thinking about the consequences of what they're saying.

Really, it's a positive thing in some ways. Overt racism is at a low, so it ins't on everybody's mind. Some day those remarks will be totally innocent because racism will be so dead nobody will care. I mean, who worries that we praise Washington, who was quite a nasty fellow in many ways? Or Jefferson, who was a slaveholder and may have slept with one or more of his slaves?
