""To your lists I would add Monterray, the Big Island, Washington, and Fourth of July on the Mall--but delete Chicago. I have been to Chicago several times and it seems nice, but ordinary, to me. ""

Yes Monterey is nice.. The whole Big Sur is big and beautiful country.

And yes, definitely, the Big Island, How could I forget our favorite island. We have been three times in the last 10-12 years and always end up looking at real estate. There is enough characters and natural diversity there to make it the most interesting of all the islands.. But it is a big leap of a move.. I could do it, more so than Mary.. Besides a person is closer to the South Pacific. <g>.

I was thinking about the "grit" of the place, the "guts" of the place, the history, etc. besides the venue.. Besides Chicago is "in the middle", sort of...

My list will grow longer. Probably add more than I delete as we roam around.. It is funny about our travels, we always end up liking the last place we've been, probably because every place has something to offer.
