OK. I understand your point.
But I didn't like it anyway any more than I like Murkowski's daughter taking over his senate seat. It's a bit unseemly for my taste.

Another important difference: RFK served in the Executive Branch, the members of which serve the President, JFK in this case.

Re the Alaska situation, imagine if JFK had somehow appointed RFK to a Senate seat. All hell would break loose.

Even if legal, the Alaska appt affects the check- balance between branches of state gov't, as if the state legislature "works for" the executive branch.

Granted, this is a common misconception these days -- the current federal Executive Branch leadership seems to act like Congress, the Judiciary and the American people are indentured to serve Their Highnesses ("I don't have to explain myself to anybody" -- GWB).
