I was impressed by that also. You begin to wonder, "Does anybody like anybody in the ME?" He has spent years studying the area, everything there keeps going down the drain, and he now sees no good solution possible.

yeah, that was basically the staff's take, as I understand it...

my feeling is that while I generally agree, the fact that it's Ajami makes his musings noteworthy even without strong argumentation--although more of the latter would certainly have been preferable...
