Nadine, When disinformation is being openly considered as government policy, you can be certain that the public's knowledge lags the actuality.

According to the Guardian article you linked, apparently since Mr Hamza defected eight years ago, he must cite German intelligence in his Senate testimony, rather than first-hand knowledge.

And do you know for which New York think tank Mr Hamza works?
