(Objective C was a great step forward when it came out over ten years ago with the Next, but as far as I know now it is a more-or-less standard development tool).

you obviously have not used these tools ... microsoft, GNU, or apples ...

In many ways apple is catching up especially in the IDE ... in many other ways they are far advanced. Objective C is simple and powerful where C++ is powerful but a lot more difficult to get things right. The real win is in the frameworks ... apple has the best I've seen. Apple also is giving away the tools one needs to develop programs. It is a brilliant move IMO.

This is a much longer discussion but for my money I put my bet on apple.
