long-gone, being a Libertarian, or rather imagining I am, I am very reluctant to seek solutions to market-related problems by appealing to the government or government officials. For me, government, and especially big government, is the problem.

Surely there enough controls and enough laws in place. If some operators push a market-related situation in a particular way then I believe, eventually, it will correct itself --- if the market is not interfered with --- or their activities are not criminal. For example, if people lease gold and then sell it short they will eventually have to buy it back. If they are lucky then their repurchase price will be below their selling price. But, as we know, everyone can't be lucky ............

LTCM wasn't lucky --- and those guys were (allegedly) the smartest in the business.
