<<Please reconcile this for me with the fact that the national debt continued to rise as Clinton basked in his phony triumph.>>

Quite simple really, Clinton used PROJECTED budget surpluses. He was crowing about having surpluses in years that hadn't happened yet.

If you can't accept FACT as I just posted it then and are unable to give Clinton credit for a booming economy and surpluses then perhaps you will not believe any evidence presented to you. If so, then why should we debate? Obviously the Bush budget and deficit crisis is on its way to becoming a colossal issue for our country, our kids and retirement of the baby boomers. State and local taxes are already going up by the way. They HAVE to balance budgets. Bush can leave us with a huge deficit in 3004 or a humongous one in 2008 if people are unwise enough to re-elect him. Some experts predict 10 trillion deficits by 2010 if Bush gets his way. Did you see that recent article? This cannot stand. It's fiscally irreponsible as hell. And didn't Bush's oil company also go bankrupt?
