<<David Warren on Iraq>>
Believe what he says
I am not too concerned about a one or 2 month delay if action is required. Production of Smart weapons
has been ramped up considerably since October according to reports on the WEB . Each month delay can double the number that can be expended on the first day and still leave plenty in reserve.
. There may be some advantage in disclosing a date of attack, false or not. If anything special moves (supplies or reinforcements) in Iraq it is being monitored and increased activity may indicate where special forces or reserves are located and disclose a new area to be targeted.
Any moves to the West would indicate that Israel is in peril from scud attacks
If Saddam is "going down" and knows it he may attempt to take Israelis out with him thru the use of biological weapons as they are the closest enemy and possibly within range while our bases are more remote.
In view of that immediate threat, and others made by Saddams regime in the past, the first days action (if it happens) can be described as awesome-but also unpredictable.

Of course he could always flee... I think this was suggested a couple of times in the last week and U.S. would prefer for him to leave the country. Wouldn't we all?
