The problem with your logic is that California is a hot bed of illegals, legal minorities etc etc that have all been promised the land of milk and honey if they vote for them. It will be decades before they realize it was all a sham, by then Calif. will be ruined fiscally. I expect to see business's begin to move out of there left and right. It is NO ACCIDENT that Nevada is the FASTEST GROWING STATE in the UNION. jdn

>> And I agree that collectively it is the Californians' fault for electing him. However, the evidence shows that California's leaning is clearly Republican, *not* Democrat. At least in my lifetime. That *is* the point. <<

the fact that simon was able to garner even a respectable minority of votes shows that california was practically begging for an alternative to davis.

what is really sad is that apparently the republicans couldn't find a viable candidate to run against a terribly weak gray davis.

that speaks more to the stupidity of the republican party in that state than the voters.

personally i would like to see a connerly run (on principle, never will happen and he would be savaged by the race baiting dems should someone with his progressive libertarian social views be on the ticket), but i would accept ah-nold as the next republican candidate for governor.

something i fully expect to happen and should it occur, the eighth largest world economy (at least it used to be <g>) will be in republican control.

There are wonderful people in California, unfortunately, they are the ones who have to suffer the great tidal wave of liberalism sweeping through the state. It Starts with the governor, and continues with Senator Barbara Boxer and Senator Dianne Feinstein.

The "good people" of California deserve better than this.
