I think that's apochryphal, Tim.

Abortions are difficult to come by these days, even though they remain legal. Most gynos won't do them, so the woman must contact her local Planned Parenthood, who takes her number and calls her back. A initial appointment is scheduled after a waiting period, then the woman goes back for the procedure. It's handled quite seriously and is uncomfortable to say the least. Then there's the mandatory birth control counselling, physical recovery over a period of weeks, and check-up at the clinic.
