Well, then, Neo, is your son going to participate in this war that you so wholeheartedly endorse, or will someone else fight in his stead? Herein lies the hypocrisy.

Excellent post Neocon!!

Except that I would state one adjustment with regard to Israel.. While I consider the US a friend of Israel, there is little reason that the US couldn't have the same relationship with a democratically elected Arab government..

The reason the US is friends is not so much because of the domestic Jewish pressure (but that's certainly undeniable), but because Israel is a democracy. And if we're unwilling to defend democracies from tyrannical and despotic regimes, then we're setting a nasty precedent with regard to the viability of other democracies (the US won't defend them either)..

But I echo every other sentiment in your post... And especially where you detail that it's not muslims in general we have an issue with, but the militant sects that are seeking to dominate these increasingly unstable and demographically challenged regimes.

As for Karen's little jibe... Were I still in the military, I would certainly be willing to go there.. I was willing to go to Desert Storm as well... And many of my friends have served, and ARE SERVING, there..

Karen thinks it's bad now... just wait until the economic picture grows even worse in that region and it's too late to nip it in the bud..
