This is the reason that only junior plays count. As soon as major takes over without a tough deal as far as releases go, then the play goes "blind". This is the hiatus our friend is sitting with too, and is cannot be explained to him easily that information cannot be obtained. Inco was a past master at this, as they blinded the Casa Berardi deposit drilling, even going so far as to announce that "there were presently now drills on the property" when they had pulled 4 drills from the actual property boundaries one Sunday for a "holiday". A few weeks later and after 15 million shares got dumped they announced the feasibility and the shares wentfrom 1.50 to 20 bucks.

The majors in diamonds especially will not announce as they fear competition in the shares, and also they want to protect regional interests. This is very frustrating for the shareholders. No junior, no play for sure. But in diamonds your juniors are going to be some cagey too if they have any brains. So where does the little guy fit in? Screwed as usual.
