Winery and profitable are two words rarely seen in the same sentence. The first time I heard the old joke it went something like "It's easy to retire with a small fortune from the wine business. Just start with a large one" Pa dum dum.

Question: How do you make a small fortune in the wine business?
Answer: Start with a large fortune

It's an old joke but a true one, no doubt, especially now that people are not as crazy to buy a $60 overpriced Chardonnay.
