Barrick chart is saying something is not right at Barrick.

They have some extremely complex hedge strategies which I don't even pretend to understand. One writer has suggested that if gold ever went into backwardation for an extended time, their strategy would blow up in their faces.

I have no idea whether that is true. All I know is I'm in Goldcorp because it is a simple little gold miner with good leverage to gold. Oh, and it just paid a very nice little dividend and went up nearly a buck today.

Hi russet,
.but that suggests that the market is still narrowed to goldbugs
I'd say bang on... If it wasn't we'd be much higher.

:o) Also George C. I agree. Yesterday was positive BUT I still don't see the crowds we so desperately need to join the party arriving yet.

On the hedging thing, well you probably already know I prefer gassers with good hedging records, but the whole Barrick issue has so much negativity now (merited or otherwise) that I like many just stand aside. Elizabeth Andrews likes em' too though so maybe you guys are on to something. I honestly haven't even looked at the hedging so I can't say but the vibes aren't good right now... a buy signal ? ;o)
