I was lying again! <ggg> After all, what can you expect of a compulsive liar, eh? LOL!

I merely reported that some folks are not convinced that a couple of Americans actually landed on the moon in 1969. However, I believe they did indeed land on the moon in 1969. Some folks believe American astronauts only landed after 1969.

One of the things in the supposedly live TV shoot of the landing that raised eyebrows was a fluttering U.S. flag and the absence of background stars in the sky. (This suggests the shoot was done on Earth and also in a studio????) You see, as there is no air and therefore no wind on the moon, how could the flag flutter? And there were no background stars! Hence the doubt in some people's minds. Whoever did the shoot goofed terribly!!!

I myself watched the "landing" on TV in May (or was it June?) 1969 till about 2 AM while I was in Hamilton, Ontario. I had my doubts then. As an experienced photographer myself, I thought the TV shoot was just too professionally done by a couple of astronauts who had no prior cinematographic skills! Mind you, there was no TV crew with them.

Later on, when I recalled that the US felt terribly humbled
(in Eisenhower's time)

1. by the then Soviet Union's feat of being first to put a man (Yuri Gagarin) in outerspace in 1959 and

2. by Nikita Kruschev's (the then Soviet boss) "We Will Bury You" speech when he came to visit Eisenhower in 1960,

I was convinced the U.S. would make every effort to catch up and to overtake the Soviets and regain its pride and prestige.

So, I was not at all surprised when I heard that what was aired as a live shoot of the moon landing had actually been shot beforehand (perhaps somewhere in the Nevada desert and in a studio) and aired in concert with the actual landing to provide drama and impact and shout to the world that America has won the race. And America was at last happy because it has "saved face" in the eyes of the world and the Soviets were psyched out through and through!!!

Never, never swallow everything hooklineandsinker!!!
There's usually more than what meets the eye.

PS. BTW, where were you in 1969 on the day the astronauts first landed on the moon? Still a high school kid then out in a drive-in somewhere doing more than mere exploration with your hands and fingers, eh? What was the smell like??? <g>
