Bush told Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak that the United States was not ready to press ahead with a Middle East peace plan, although he remained committed to settling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as soon as possible.

The US will not be ready to press ahead until the parties involved are ready to press ahead. If we could dictate what happens there the conflict would have been over long ago.

No one is suggesting that we dictate terms. However, as a $3 billion contributor to Israel's economy, I think we have enough leverage to get them to the negotation table. Bush just doesn't want to be bothered.
