Hi Maurice Winn; Re Christmas in Peking. What really happened is that China got tired of trying to resist US cultural imperialism (which is no more than world culture, sent back out into the world), and to instead lie back and enjoy.

I'd expect that eventually China itself will be as important as the US in creating new cultural traditions. It's a big enough market.

I wonder how long it will be before Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in bars in Paris.
