If we agree that silver has been used as a hedge against local currency inflation, then the last cycle has seen silver being sold and the local currency converted to US$. Now the silver is being sold and converted to gold. I think this is what you are missing. The supply of silver is always going to be there as its modern role is as a transitional commodity between fiat and gold.
