The Administration is approaching the "War on Terrorism" as if it's a pre-cold war model. As if it were a Nation-State we were fighting. Eliminate the leadership and you've almost won. It's an ill conceived model. What we've done over the last year and a half is actually strengthened the enemy. Prior to Afghanistan the top leadership was centralized. Still difficult to monitor, but now they are dispersed around the world making far more difficult to monitor.

Terrorists are more like a colony deadly virus with the ability to intelligently mutate. Kill one or two and the surrounding virus mutate to become more resilent. Mitigate one attack and they mutate into another attack mechanism. The colony can mutate faster than you can kill or mitigate. The only way to attack the colony is to attack what they feed on, what gives them their power. We "think" it's money; without money the colony dies. It doesn't, it may go dormant, it may be slowed, but it's still there. It's similar to a virus going dormant during a cold spell. Just waiting for a warm day.

We utterly fail to acknowlege that our foreign policy is the real food for the colony. During the last year the opinion of the US around the world has diminished [with the exception of France which was +1%]. In Muslim countries, the opinion of the US has dropped 10-15%. Those are big numbers.

This past week, there was a UN resolution condemnin Israel in the use of force that killed two UN workers. 12 votes in favor; two abstained; and the US vetoed. Most of the world, including the west, sees Israel as a case of State sponsored terrorism. And we use our veto power to defend it. The colony of terrorism just grew in numbers and strength.
