We're having the same problem with busybody twits here in the g.w.n. ... it's presented as being in aid of somebody's conception of 'diversity', but i defy anybody to find one credible immigrant or religious group who would have government dictate the diddling around with people's culture ... i know a lot of recent immigrants through the course of bringing my wife into the country over the last few years, any we have talked to about this have found it ridiculous ... and not speaking of the ones with christian-country backgrounds either, thinking mostly of two close friends of my wife, one filipina of chinese blood, one japonese .... i am completely agnostic, neutral entirely on all the religion of the planet, and if i as a cranky old canuck sumbeech have no objection to the 'christ' in Christmas, then logic says the government should just leave the people alone, let them do what they want

Particularly sad seeing the ACLU take part in that crap, they have in the past espoused worthy causes ... separation of church and state is vital yes, but you don't need to gut culture to achieve it

Al, interesting that the Civil Liberties Union wants to sue local townships and municipalities for publically presenting nativity scenes.

Clearly, they are very worried that religious activity of any sort, especially when promoted by municipal or state agencies, could impact on their civil liberties.

Strangely enough, non-religion has always been viewed as a negative, ie no religion and therefore no interest in religion, but what I see happening is that atheism is also becoming "fundamentalist" and militant in that those who do not believe now see the promotion of any form of religion as a trespass on their turf and their freedom to be irreligious.

By the way, if you will please accept it being said by a non-believer, Merry Christmas.
