Yes the 1st two weeks of January may have a headfake seasonal buying. I am going to make a calculation of what to pay for Feb.Mar QQQ puts based on Nasdaq breaking 1500 and put in GTCs.(major question how long can the prop the NDX being Zeev i am sure knows if that if January starts badly he will have to recalculate. MDY SPY RUT SML, i will watch their action closely come the new year.MDY SML and RUT all have option trading. The RUT pattern is to sell-off rapidly in the final stages of a general breakdown(the puts escalate rapidly if you can time it right.) The key for judging the Santa Rally is the SPX not the NDX, that is, Hirsch bases his data on S&P. If SPX is below 930 come the close of 1/3/2003, i would say you have failure in Santa Rally. And if below 900, look out below,imo.You may get a bounce rally at below 900 at that point, but the handwriting will be on the wall. This per Hirsch studies would be a strong bearish signal. Max. p.s. Hirsch is the compiler of the Stock Traders Almanac. To all in the Northeast i know none of us are looking forward to this morning:) It is 23 degrees here with plus 12inches estimated. IF we stay at below 28 we will be O.K., as the snow will be dry snow, the wet and heavy the killer(both in terms of shoveling and power outage.)Winds expected to hit 50mph.
