This issue on the short xmas season showed up in a bunch of articles early on, but then faded away.

I think things would have been a lot different if there was a "hot toy" out there.

Yes, conventional wisdom would be to add one week. Before Thanksgiving would be more conservative. It would add a lot. I haven't done the numbers, but WMT reports weekly sales. They would be easy to check. For an industry estimate type number.
