David Re..The main point is that only the worst leaders govern by polls. That would be Clinton. Would have been Gore, except that Bush won the election. Thank God.

I would have to disagree with that one, somewhat. The worst leaders don't lead by their smarts or the polls. Atleast, if you lead by the polls, depending on the polling, you will be popular if not totally effective; and having the backing of the people is probably a leaders most important asset. The great leaders have to know when to break from the crowd; but it is something which should only be done occassionly, and with careful thought.

You would think this is daring.... a Rep. pardoning a Rep. but others might say it was just another variation on 'pork'.

The point was that Caroline Kennedy, et.al., understood the leadership it took for Ford to make this pardon.

Let me just say.....had the culprit been a democrat and had the person doing the pardoning been a democrat, you would have been all over it like a fly on garbage. I can take much of your biased crap but the incredible hypocrisy you show in your political and moral standards is enough to make me projectile vomit.

If Ford pardoned Nixon, then he's as much of a crook. Deal with it!

God, you are a true sophisticate.

And try to remember, Bush did not win the vote. He's ruling as president on a technicality. We'll see if we can change that in 2004.
