Jim, impressive work. It must be even more beautiful with a jade patina.

Are you saying you are displeased with the Olympus, including the photo you posted?

As both a Canon and Olympus user I will say they are probably equally
user friendly. The Canon's tend to be a bit larger and heavier. Also,
the higher end Olympus cameras are constructed differently than the entry
models, so you may find them easier to use. I don't think you could go
wrong with either. I was planning on buying the G3, but balked when they
announced it would be 4 megapixels (like the G2). I am a big Canon fan and
have a Canon EOS Elan SLR which has never taken a bad photo.

And that is the honest truth.

If you can, try to go to a local electronics dealer or photo boutique
and try both cameras. You may have a better feeling for the user interfaces.

Good luck to you.

Do you have a website with your coppersmithing pieces?

John, I can't wait to see pictures from your new camera, because it's clear from the piece of metal work that you're an artist. I think you'd be happy with any of the upper end cameras. They each have their strengths - Olympus has the brightest lenses, Canon is the most user friendly, Sony has the amazing Carl Zeiss zoom, and Nikon offers total manual control and legendary glass. I won't go into the weaknesses except to say there are none that can't be worked around.

I think your starting post solicited opinions from G3 owners. We've got one on the forum, Zeuspaul, and I hope he joins in. You can also review 40 G3 owners' opinions dpreview:
