That's a criminally stupid, laughable description of libertarianism, and again uses that telltale phraseology: "By your thinking." You obviously don't know much about libertarianism, and certainly don't know what I'm thinking. Are you sure you know what you're thinking? Are you thinking? In fact, by my thinking, we should be living in a land not "void of rules [and] laws" but instead, with a far smaller number of more strongly enforced rules focused upon reducing or eliminating coercion, physical and property harm, and fraud. And with regard to "shared responsibility," are you kidding? Being facetious, sarcastic, satirical? It's the nanny state forcing all citizens, via arbitrary, socialist, and otherwise unconstitutional laws to forceably subsidize sick, lame, dumb, lazy, and luckless strangers that serves as a libertarian cornerstone. In the process, we have accepted a "defacto" [sic] standard of federal and state government responsibility that, while differing in practice, does not contradict the original intention of the constitution. Let's start with this: do you know what crimes the federal government has jurisdiction over, pursuant to the Constitution? And please do remember that where law is concerned, the intent of the law is every bit as important as the letter of it. That's another opinion expressed as if you're imposing a fact upon the conversation.I suggest we will get a lot further in solving the challenges of our nation...if Libertarians would lay down their self-centered attitudes and think about the country as a whole for a change. I wish that the LP had the numbers to affect overall national outcomes, but unfortunately, we're not that numerous yet. Of course, your very statement is meaningless as central planning, redistribution of wealth, and paternalism are the very antithesis of social, political, and economic freedom. Selfishness is among the highest virtues, as I see it. It is, in fact, a great gift to others, and one that keeps on giving: in the spirit of the adage whereby "a man fished-for eats for a day, but a man taught to fish eats for a lifetime."If you have ever uttered the adage, "There, but for the grace of God, go I," then even you have acknowledged the truth of my position. If not, then nothing I or anyone else can say, with [sic] matter to you. I've never said that, but don't worry: I respect all people's superstitions. LPS5
