Hi Phil, and very interesting. >The authors apparently do not consider gold as precious, but a mere commodity. They apparently looked at the supply/demand side only without considering monetary policy, international trade, geo-political events, US fiscal policy, etc. which all directly influence the POG. I have to say I find their rationalizing hard to swallow, that is, if it is the genuine basis for their article. Being an old cynic, however, I would say they have an agenda, for any one of a multiplicity of reasons, to keep the gold price down. Anyway, they failed miserably.
