"and native american indians are aborigines ? say that in public, and u'll hear some loud noises." In common usage "aborigine" has come to be associated with indigenous Australians... so there might be a noise or 2. No problem with "native american indians are aboriginal" though.

Any beef with that CB? Or do you feel denigrated? [Heh, heh, to coin a phrase - some politician got in trouble in the USA for using the word denigration, being accused of being racist]. Does the word aboriginal have some derogatory implication? It's a great idea to be a NZ aboriginal now because of the racial advantages one can get - taxpayers fund all sorts of racial advantages for Maoris now, from easy medical school entry, special political representation, extra school funding [teachers get more money for Maori pupils] to special consultation by government. It's all gain and no loss to be Maori [they are the Master Race in New Zealand, like the Europeans in South Africa's apartheid days and the Aryans in Nazi Germany]. Fortunately, thanks to the predilection of young people to jump the fence, ignoring any parental concerns [of which there aren't many in NZ], the mixture is so great, there's no way to make a real division. Of course, there are really none of them left. About the best anyone can prove is 1/32, although they will tell you, with a straight face, that they are 1/2. All you have to do to know better is to look at them. Then look at pictures of the Natives 150 years ago. Man, they were "Butt Ugly!" Those pretty Hula Girls you see in the Posters are everything but "Native"
