One darwinistic solution would be if SAMSUNG would acquire some of those bankrupt, starving companies
representing the obese-fat-to-be-cut after the bubbly-bubbly-days.

Somebody has to do something about them, and Nokia does neither have to nor take that risk nor the cost
of unorganic hormonally nor cash induced growth.

Finished, it's finished, nearly finished, it must be nearly finished.
Grain upon grain, one by one, and one day, suddenly, there's a heap, a little heap, the impossible heap.
I can't be punished any more.

Damn it, this is a major setback for Nokia! They´ve been working with SKIMT for years, but now LGE and Samsung get the deals. Or "acquire rights" to supply the WCDMA gear, whatever that means.

But things could be worse. Nokia is doing great in Taiwan, Chunghwa and TCC already chose Nokia as WCDMA supplier and that is well over 50 % of the market. The third major GSM supplier with an UMTS license -FarEasTone- should announce its supplier in the near future, and Ericsson is the number one favourite in that competition. FarEasTone uses Ericsson´s GPRS, and their recently appointed CEO is a Swede who used to work for Ericsson China in 1990´s.

SK IMT's 3G bidding mired in delays

Both domestic and foreign players are now staging a showdown for SK IMT's high-profile third-generation (3G) telecom equipment bidding. Those familiar with the matter said SK IMT was expected to announce the winner last week, but a delay occurred amidst mounting speculation.

SK IMT - a unit of SK Telecom, the country's largest mobile carrier - plans to introduce W-CDMA (wideband-code division multiple access) service in the third quarter next year, competing head-on with KT ICOM, a unit of telecom giant KT Corp.

SK IMT started the benchmarking test (BMT) for the second round of 3G equipment testing Sept. 30. The BMT lasted until Oct. 23 and five contenders - Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Nortel Networks, Alcatel and Nokia - demonstrated their technological moxie in making the grade.

With five contenders waiting for the results, SK IMT has showed no signs that they will be revealing the winner any time soon. Industry experts predicted that SK IMT would unveil the bidding results before Dec. 15, but the presidential elections on Dec. 19 effectively postponed it.

SK IMT, however, remains silent about the bidding results, suggesting that it might further delay their final announcement beyond Dec. 31 - a deadline arbitrarily set by themselves...
