Missing a physical is easy enough to do and more often than not has nothing to do with being AWOL. And if you missed a scheduled physical, you'd probably be suspended from hazardous duty like flying. >>> Make that 'refusing to take a REQUIRED physical (the first year drug tests were included)... and, yes, he was suspended from flying. Your speculation on drugs, AWOL status etc...is just that...pure speculation. >>> Just noting the plain facts available in his military record... he DID skip the required physical, he WAS suspended from flying, and he WAS given extra time in a 'paper division' as a result of this. >>> AS far as being absent without leave (politicing in Alabama instead of showing up to serve where he was assigned duty)... no one make a big stink about it at the time. >>> I think it was FAR WORSE that he was allowed in the Texas Guard at all.... when he was only one point above the mandatory failure score on the admissions testing... was behind SEVERAL HUNDRED more qualified applicants... and got in - presumably - only because of his 'fortunate son' status and famous name.
