John, I’m not entirely sure either how the system works, but from the picture of the “subscriber unit” it’s definitely not a portable/ mobile handset. (The corDECT subscriber terminal, called Wallset, provides an RJ-11 telephone port and an RJ-232 serial port for simultaneous internet access using a PC.)

Further, the article does not make mention of a handset. It does mention that the technology is “Based on the Digital Enhanced>>>>> Cordless <<<<<<Telecommunications standard specified by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). So, it leaves me to wonder if corDECT is truly a MOBILE wireless system of just a CORDLESS system in which case a CDMA handset would not be a requirement??

I guess we still need an explanation from a Mighty Scientist and/ or Engineer.
