SDLI was $8 in 1998, JDSU paid about $900 (pre-split) in 2000. I am not sure "reasonably well" really applies.

What JDSU should do is get rid of the passives business in China. It makes near-zero margin, because the prices for passives are so depressed. All the IP they transferred there is gone anyway (no laws, no courts).

I thought JDSU dominated this business, is that still true or has a cheap chinese vendor taken share? Even if that has happened it would only be for the current generation, no? Since JDSU has the design expertise in-house I assume.
