I am delighted to hear this. As far as I am concerned, they can "Hook up the Battery Cables." Well, I'm hardly "delighted", but recognize the grim necessity involved... But I do say that I prefer the CIA, and their "allied" foreign intelligence agencies, handling this distasteful task.. But I do concur that this is likely to be a ruthless battle where little quarter is given by either side.. Hawk

Lindy, I think sadism in such situations will be common and take pre-eminence over an intelligent attempt to gain information from prisoners. Being an international expert on interrogation, like yourself, I'd be inclined to use the Stockholm Syndrome as an interviewing technique. Cruelty and torture are more likely to confirm as valid the contempt for the captors that the prisoners have [assuming they are the right prisoners and not somebody in the wrong time at the wrong place or maliciously turned-in by a vengeful neighbour]. As Hawk wrote, many of the followers have latched onto charismatic leaders who provide social, spiritual and other support. They would be good candidates for Stockholm Syndrome treatment. "Hooking up the battery cables" is what the malevolent Moslems, Pol Pot, perhaps the KGB and Chinese interrogators do. Do you really want to be no different? I'd be surprised if somebody hooking cables up to me would make me help them kill my friends and family, or hook cables up to them, by offering information to the evil thugs. Mqurice
