You may be correct on your assessment.
I would like to hear it articulated from someone in charge of the government.

And please, excuse me if you read another post I wrote about this:

Can we say the, that the USA only invades, threatens invasion and prepares for war against countries too small and unprotected to defend themselves?

I thought the Arab street would only respect us if we were tough.

Not a very well thought-out Foreign Policy. Someone in DC should look up "speak softly and..."
