Getting the Most out of Homeland Security
by Mark Weisbrot

In a final burst of shameless opportunism for the legislative year 2002, the President and his party pushed their "homeland security" bill through Congress. The bill was laden with PORK and gifts to special interests. Among the most ostentatious was a reward for corporations who found security far from their homeland: those who had set up foreign headquarters (sometimes little more than a mailbox in a tax haven like Bermuda) in order to evade US taxes would be made eligible for government contracts.

Public schools have nothing to do with the left or right. The Christian right-wing wants to pull down public education or take it over because they don't want evolution
or sex education taught. Evolution is fact. Sex education the prudes have already taken out of the curriculum which means kids will make more mistakes. 80% of teenagers have sex by the time they're 19. So what to do?

Vouchers are one of those tricks of the GOP to reward lower middle class whites who hate going to school with mixed races. It's not a right or wrong issue but it's a way to get your kid out of public school into a cheap all-white school. Started with forced busing which was a tragedy and not clearly right or wrong. An instance where civil rights may have gone a little too far. But integration means integrating so what to do, leave schools segregated? Vouchers began as a backlash against forced busing. Integration comes at a cost. Which cost though? That si the question?

Kerry is a very wealthy man who is against tax cuts for the rich and has never made a dime of his policies. He sends his kids to private schools of course. As does Bush and everyone else in upper echelons.
