Maybe the time has come to hold a Worldwide Congress of Musicians; a worldwide Congress of Writers and Poets; and a Worldwide Congress of Artists. Next, a Worldwide Conference of Intellectuals to sort out and examine the proclamations forthcoming from those proceedings.

Once the above is accomplished then the politicians can run with a ball they'll clearly know they're gonna have to pass around; and not keep for themselves (by the way, 43 new millionaires recently elected to Congress).

The real world? Oh! One of the things that bothers me is that the church, due to scandals way too many, has effectively lost its high ground to morally speak out against warring nations.

For example, Britain's bishops and high priests recently came out with a joint statement that condemned a war on Iraq. Unfortunately, this barely registered a blip on media conscious America. In fact, most folks in America don't even realize any such statement was made.

Not that the Catholic Church was all that great speaking out against the Vietnam War and supporting pacifism, this time 'round those priests are way too busy cowtowing to prosecutors and politicians. We'll probably see very few of 'em speak out against a War on Iraq.

Heck, maybe it's time for me to grab my guitar and go back to singing my protest songs in Harvard Square. At least that'd count for something--lol!
