On the North Korean situation, Bill, I think the Bush problem goes back to ending the Clinton arrangements to improve relations between the South and the North, and to do so at a high decibel level. Pretty typical of a certain part of the Bush foreign policy operation.

As for what should be done now, it's not at all clear. For one thing, the Bush folk should stop shouting and try working with the neighborhood, the South Koreans, the Japanese, and the Chinese. And to do so fairly quietly.
