Do you have a preference for digital camera? I really have to read up on this stuff but since I'm not planning any trips right now I haven't bothered, the technology is such a moving target anyway.

I have only used digital camers a couple times.
I have no doubt the industry is headed there.
Already there for Newspapers and the like I would guess.

Most magazines still have not switched.
The price of a really good digital camera is prohibitive right now. For most everyday, non-professional uses, the cameras are already cheap.

I would want one that could use all my existing Canon lenses, with no magnification factor (I am fond of wide angle lenses and do not want them magnified by 1.6 making a wonderful 20MM wide angle a pathetic 32mm or there abouts.

CANON does have such a camera out but it is dammned expensive. I figure two more years and we will be up to 10Mpixels (from 5) at 1/2 cost of current offering. If the publishing industry has changed more towards digital, I may go for it then.
