From what I have read, Reps. were not so high on Woodward when he wrote on Nixon and Watergate.

My recollection is that MOST of the country was unaware of Woodward & Bernstein DURING the uncovering of the scandal; their involvement was mostly an inside-the-beltway phenomenon.

Only later, after publication of the excellent book "All the President's Men" and the subsequent movie did most Americans become aware of their roles. By that time, everyone knew Nixon had lied, and even Barry Goldwater had denounced his actions publicly.

For the record, Woodward had voted for Nixon.

I don't quite see how you can competently criticize the president's war policy if you've not even bothered to read what is certainly the most important and authoritative document on the subject. It would seem to me that anyone who did so would be terribly underinformed.
