jh, Actually, the surprise siders gave us 10 years of deficit spending that looked like a good economy to those who didn't look behind the headlines. Just like maxing out our credit cards makes us look well-to-do to our neighbors, but our creditors know better. George Bush, the first, was wise enough to cut that plastic-burning mania off and Clinton even improved on his game plan. The excesses we are burning off now are Greenspan's printing spree and the Clinton Administration's addiction to funky economic numbers. And, George Bush the Second's return to credit card spending.
