Also aggressive character assasination techniques to erode the credibility of their opponents. And they are not above cheating and lying. They market closet racism, sexism, homophobia, both real and imagined patriotism, greed is good, nostalgic all-white American 50's values, hawkish military ideas, usually disguising their real motives and lying about what they're really going to do. When Bush ran for President he told us he was for environmental protection, strong public education, prescription drugs, protecting Social Security, not being a nation-builder around the world, stressing morality and family values and even claiming to be the party for minorities. In fact his policies have gone in the opposite direction in all those areas, plus he's runn ing the economy into the group and creating the biggest federal debt in history by far. maybe even on purpose. Why would he want such huge debt? Both to loot the treasury along with his defense, HMO and oil cronies, but also to make sure we cannot afford the programs the Democrats like, which are a little more socialist-minded. It's a cynical trick. It allows white collar criminals and insider deals to plunder our nation's wealth. It also opens up every possible environmental resource to plundering while doing away with any real regulation. War, oil, 50's values, angry white men and religous women, gun owners who fear their rights are being taken away, the very rich who want to evade taxes. That is their constituency.
