I thought that metal hydrides were a means to store hydrogen. What does this have to do with producing hydrogen cheaply?

Clean safe metal hydrides, non toxic, non polluting. Good stuff to get into the environment. What??? Anyone who says that is a liar liar pants on fire. OK... In nature there never has been massive chemical reactions of breaking CH bonds.(aka fire) Clearly introducing a gazillion tons of exotic Clean safe metal hydrides, non toxic, non polluting. is Good stuff to get into the environment. I sure hope the only people who bank on metal hydrides bank on the Moon or Mars.
