Glad you liked Marshall. I read him sometime back and found him irrelevant. I returned, however, in the last month or so, thanks to some reference I read somewhere, I think it was on Dave Winer's blog. His arguments just jump right out.

As for no longer analyzing the Bush steps, I'm not with you on that one. First, the serious consequences won't be known for a very long time. In the meantime, the shorter term consequences are more than worth serious conversations. But, second, the analysis and criticism of their actions and talk becomes part of the next round of actions and talk, the reflexive give and take of human history. To reinforce this last point, I consider the Bush administration at least as politically driven as its predecessor, just trying desparately not to show it. It is thus as vulnerable to organized criticism.

It's a part of good citizenship to engage in that. I don't wish to follow a leader; I wish to shape direction the leader goes.
