Unfortuately, to judge from conversations I have had with unsuspecting friends lately, what Templeton was calling "the American madness" is still here, after three years of a bear market. These good people are just as sure that everything will come up roses in the end as the German people were sure they were destined to rule the world in 1942 or so. Or even on into 1944. Even after the Battle of Stalingrad. And in this case, even after the bursting of the dot.com bubble.
