One of my many concerns for 2003 is the budget crisis in the states and local governments. The states are having difficulty with just about everything that requires funding. You can find some of the issues here.

If we can lay off another million people, that would help. Decreasing the labor force increases "productivity". Better productivity makes jla happy.

It is useful to note that "productivity" went up dramatically in the early 1930's as well. ;)
