>>Your boy is in charge now. <<

too funny.

of course fed officials were lowering rates to encourage spending...it was the monetary policies of the 90's that created the massive corporate debt overhang and over -capacity...

(although nobody holds a gun to your head and forces you to cash out re-fi or buy that SUV, right??)

that didn't work...so big was the bubble...

and now those fed officials realize that you can't spend your way out of overcapacity through "low rates" encouraging debt...corporations have little things like debt ratings to consider unlike the consumer...although there was a time when consumer debt seemed to be an issue with lenders....now it's all about "the transaction" and the ensuing fees...

so now the big threat is deflation....and the fed has stated they will push on every string available to avoid that....so time to re-flate...

my opinion is that will fail too...but in the process it will drive the dollar to new lows as foreign investments repatriate.

irresponsible u.s. economic policy is something where you seem to be conflating the power of the presidency into the power of the fed...

i'm sure bush 41 had a tremendous amount of consternation as AG raised rates going into his re-election campaign....

c'mon baltar...who's zooming who???
