Hi Party Time,

Re: Pretty much it seems the rich money simply cycles and recycles around itself, and I find little reason to take pride in that. Anyone agree?

Kevin Phillips, for one. His book "Wealth and Democracy" did a wonderful job of demystifying the Horatio Alger fictions. He pointed out that families such as the Asters and Vanderbilts whose forbears created early fortunes in America still remain among America's first families. We do have an aristocracy in the U.S., though it's not touted as such. With Bush's efforts on the aristocracy's behalf, they seem to be consolidating wealth and power at an ever accelerating rate. All the while cynically labeling any efforts by progressives at creating a fair system as "class warfare". It's totally Orwellian doublethink at its finest.
